Q4 2023 Performance of Carpooling Apps in Brazil: Android Analysis

The fourth quarter of 2023 has shown significant activity in the carpooling and ridesharing app market in Brazil, particularly on the Android platform. Insights from Sensor Tower's comprehensive data highlight the performance of the top apps in this category.

Uber - Request a ride has maintained a strong presence, with downloads starting at 189K in the last week of September and peaking at 275K in mid-December. Weekly active users (WAUs) also reflected a healthy trend, starting at 12.3M and reaching a high of 13.7M in early December, though there was a noticeable dip to 11M by the end of December.

The Uber - Driver: Drive & Deliver platform for drivers showed a steady performance with downloads beginning at 110K and gradually increasing to 134K by the third week of December. The WAUs showed an upward trajectory from 1.2M to 1.4M, indicating growing driver engagement towards the year's end.

inDrive. Save on city rides, another key player, saw its downloads fluctuate over the quarter, starting at 113K and having a low of 92K in late November. However, it managed to recover to 102K by mid-December. The WAUs for inDrive showcased an increase from 3.4M to 4.1M, with a slight decrease to 3.5M in the final week of the quarter.

BlaBlaCar: Carpooling and Bus experienced growth in downloads from 49K to an impressive 110K by the year's end, along with a consistent rise in WAUs from 1.3M to a peak of 1.7M before closing the quarter at 1.5M.

Lastly, Uber Lite, designed for simpler devices and networks, had a modest performance with downloads ranging from 18K to 28K in the busiest weeks, and WAUs showing a slight decrease from 334K to 297K by the quarter's end.
